Catch 22

Ik begon mij al af vragen of er een manier was om zonder een blanco cheque af te geven toch in Footnote te geraken toen Footnote zelf het antwoord gaf:

What can I do for free
Bij een tweede poging, nu met mijn Basic Free Account, kwam ik bij WOII-foto's van de US Airforce. Ik kon het niet laten toch even op Rotterdam te zoeken en kwam toen bij een groepsfoto die gemaakt werd vlak voor een missie van de B-17 bommenwerper Ooold Soljer naar Rotterdam (31-3-1943): het vergeten bombardement dus, waarbij honderden Rotterdammers uit de wijken Bospolder en Tussendijken om het leven kwamen. Maar ook onder de Amerikanen zijn slachtoffers gevallen. Uit het bijschrift blijkt dat twee vliegtuigen in de lucht op elkaar zijn gebotst: 2Lt Browning (navigator) 17 missions, killed on 31 march 43 aboard 41-24559 "Ooold Soljer" with Bartlett crew, mission to Rotterdam, after mid air collision with 42-29573 "Two Beauts" (source 303rdbg.com).
